About the Milano Herald

How our stories are made
- We add public sources to a Nota project: announcements, press releases and news reports, in English or Italian.
- Nota drafts each story in our voice and checks it against those sources, paragraph by paragraph, so every claim traces back to something on the record.
- Every story gets an editing pass before it runs. Claims Nota flags are fixed, facts are brought up to date and translated quotes are checked.
- The same project produces our search fields, our social posts and The Briefing newsletter.
Each story ends with a note on how it was made and links to its sources.
What the editing pass changed
Here is what the editing pass changed in our first edition.
- Nota’s source check flagged one sentence in the La Scala story that its source did not support. It was rewritten.
- The Olympic Village story was updated with the developer’s September announcement, because its source was written before the residence opened.
- Dates were brought up to date in the Salone and EICMA stories.
- In the Music Week story, the translated quotes were checked against the Italian. A line saying the open call was still taking proposals was reworded, because the source gave no deadline.
- Two summaries that repeated their headlines, on La Scala and Salone, were rewritten.
- Two paragraphs that were only a bare link were cut or rewritten.
- In The Briefing, a line suggesting La Scala tickets were still available was corrected to match the checked story.
